Born in Istanbul in 1971, Zeynep Yutek transfers her acrylic portraits onto handmade parchment papers she prepares herself. She creates a contrast between the warmth of traditional material and the cool discipline of geometric fragmentation associated with cubism. The organic, timeless, and textured structure of parchment adds unusual depth to portraits produced with acrylic technique. Alongside portraits focused on instant expressions, she carries her search for form into three dimensions through the wooden works she designs. Having exhibited her works in various local exhibitions to date, the artist continues to produce in her Istanbul studio while remaining faithful to the nature of the material.
